I HIGHLY recommend this product!! It works! I adopted an adult Shar Pei/Lab mix. He is perfect EXCEPT for a hatred for other dogs. I have determined it is fear based aggression. Who knows what trauma Max suffered as a stray dog (he was picked up by a city pound in very rough physical shape). Rather than put him through anymore, I have opted to see him as perfect, and just keep him on leash ALWAYS. Occasionally we will come upon loose dogs. I always yell to their owners (if anywhere within sight) that mine is aggressive and to please call their dogs. Well, that works about 50% of the time. The other 50%, owners either cannot get their dogs to obey and return to them, or the dogs are loose on their own. Thank Goodness for Spray Shield. It has prevented many many incidents. I carry 2 at a time, since you only get 10 spritzes out of one can, and sometimes I need more than that to fend off other aggressive (or dumb) dogs. If an owner is around, I always let them know, "it's only lemon spray" so they do not think I am macing their dogs (though sometimes, admittedly, I'd like to!). I have never had a dog completely ignore the spray and attack us anyway. I used to consider the spray something I was doing to protect other peoples dogs from getting bit by Max when they got up too close to us. Now I do it to protect Max. Turns out he has very few front teeth, he has cancer and is now pretty old.. so though he looks ferocious - which gets other dogs to put up their dukes - he is the one who gets hurt on the rare occasion we have been out withOUT my spray!!! Buy it! It's a great protection.
