When a pocketbook manufacturing company burned down in 1911, many residents of West Bend, Wisconsin were out of work. Young Bernhard C. Ziegler, a local entrepreneurial dynamo, set out to find a substitute industry for the townspeople. He recruited six other men who, along with himself, each put down $1,000 to incorporate the West Bend Aluminum Company on September 27, 1911.
Today, West Bend Housewares is among the most recognized small appliance manufacturer in the United States and the West Bend® brand is known multinationally for its quality products and service. Its facilities remain headquartered in West Bend, Wisconsin. |
