SportDog SportHunter Dog Training Collar

We have a large, speedy male dog who is unafraid of cars (the bigger the better in his opinion). We have never been able to train him to be off leash and we live in the suburbs. My husband asked Vet friends of ours about electric training collars and they did not feel it was cruel and that it would work for our dog, so we got it. It has allowed us to take our dog on hikes and open fields w/o fear of him disappearing or getting out of control. It is definitely important to use the collar CORRECTLY- so watch the instruction DVD (which is a hoot anyway). My only reservation in giving it 5 stars is that the controller could be better laid out/engineered.
